THE NEED In 2007 after journeying to Bungoma, Kenya the need for Biblical training was found to be significant. For example, we found many pastors in Kenya have no training at all and some are inadvertently corrupting the word of God. Bibles, access to a mentor, training materials and Bible conferences are much more accessible in the larger towns. The Gospel has been shared and planted in these remote locations; however, no support structure existed for the training of young pastors. As our inJesus Global Missions mission team traveled throughout western Kenya, we were surprised at the number of pastors who had traveled to cyber cafes or internet “huts”, logged on to download teachings, and pasted them into scrapbooks as their only means of self-education. There is a need to take the Gospel to the remote parts of the earth and train pastors there how to grow in their faith and discern God’s ways from their former ways. Pastors are hungry for the Truth as found in God’s Word and open to teachers to train and encourage them in the faith. This need is not isolated to the remote areas of Africa, but we are seeing and hearing the need for Biblical training and discipleship throughout Europe and the Middle East, India, and other hostile areas around the world. Our inJesus.com contacts indicate there is need, opportunity and an invitation to come to Israel and teach discipleship principles to non-Jews and Jews who accept Jesus as the Messiah, training the truth as fulfilled in Jesus, the Messiah and recorded in the New Testament.
Another exciting opportunity is through several contacts which have been made with the underground church in countries where the political climate is hostile toward Christianity. The approach here would be a third type of model where the inroad to discipleship is through businesses large enough to be “ignored” by the government. If a company employees a significant number of people, business owners can offer Bible studies during company hours, and as long as there is no encouragement for any type of governmental resistance. |
